Dead Tree Sketch

This is the oldest drawing of the series and my first on the 12″x18″ paper. I specifically remember where my inspiration came for this drawing; I lived minutes from farmland where a lonely tree sat upon a hill. While it didn’t look much like this at all (the real tree was surrounded by corn fields and much fuller), I took my imagination and creative license to turn it into what I wanted. It has a pretty dark connotation to it, which seems to be a recurring theme throughout this set of drawings.

Like my other drawings, my techniques were pretty rudimentary. I used a 2H pencil, an eraser, and my fingers on 12″x18″ watercolor paper (that’s all I had).
